Skylight Health Launches with $13M to Redefine Specialty Care

What You Should Know:

Skylight Health, a mission-driven healthcare company co-founded by Jesse Hunter and Dr. Doug Smith, announced its official launch and the closing of a $13M in funding led by Valtruis with participation from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Allen & Company LLC.

– The investment  will accelerate the development of Skylight’s advanced data analytics platform, technology-enabled care navigation programs, and the buildout of community-based collaboration hubs. The company’s value-based, specialist-centric model is designed to close critical gaps in access and coordination across the specialty care continuum.

Reimagining Specialty Care Around the Whole Person

The current healthcare system is often fragmented, especially for patients managing multiple conditions. Skylight Health is launching a multispecialty model that aims to enable better communication, collaboration, and continuity across all stages of specialty care.

Skylight’s comprehensive platform is built on three core pillars:

  • Shared Data Platform: Harmonized datasets and tools to streamline and improve the quality of referrals, surface relevant data, and provide timely access to appropriate, high-value specialty care between specialists and payers.
  • Multispecialty Integration: A collaborative care model focused on treating the whole person instead of isolated conditions, with dedicated resources to support specialists and care teams across the care continuum.
  • Local Collaboration Hubs: The addition of new clinical capacity to the community to enhance access and bridge the gap between primary and specialty care.

“We have all experienced the challenges navigating specialty care, which today is defined by fragmented referrals, excessive wait times, and disconnected providers—a systemic inefficiency driving poor outcomes and higher costs. Skylight is here to change that. We’re building deep local relationships with a trusted platform that connects patients, primary care providers, and specialists through better data, smarter coordination, and a whole-person approach to care,” said Jesse Hunter, Co-Founder and CEO.
