4 Questions with Bryan Gilpin, President of Suntra MedTech Solutions

Why did you change the name of Sunrise Labs?

For more than 30 years, Sunrise Labs was known as a trusted partner in medical technology innovation. But as the industry evolved and our clients grew, we realized our name no longer reflected the company we had become.

Our new name Suntra MedTech Solutions honors our roots while pointing to the future. “Suntra” blends the spirit of “Sunrise” with “transformation, which is at the heart of every medical breakthrough.

The change signals our growth into a broader, future-ready partner for innovators across the medtech landscape. What hasn’t changed is our commitment, our people, and the promise we’ve always delivered: we don’t just support medical device innovation—we help bring it to life.

What is different about Suntra compared to Sunrise?

The shift from Sunrise to Suntra reflects an evolution. With Sunrise, we were best known for technical and engineering expertise. With Suntra, we’ve grown into something more holistic.

Today, we help clients not only solve engineering problems, but also connect strategy, innovation, and execution. Whether you’re just shaping an idea or preparing to launch globally, we bring together the right mix of capabilities to move faster, reduce risk, and create meaningful impact.

In short, Suntra builds on the trust of Sunrise while expanding the ways we can partner for your success.

What trends in medtech are shaping how you serve clients today?

We’re at a moment when speed, safety, and certainty matter more than ever. Companies are under pressure to bring innovations to market quickly, while also ensuring they meet the highest standards for patients and providers.

That’s why clients are looking for partners who can see the full picture, anticipate challenges, and help navigate complexity with confidence. At Suntra, we draw on three decades of experience to do just that, streamlining the journey from idea to impact, so innovators can focus on improving lives.

You’ve said integrated product development is the future of medtech. What do you mean by that?

In the past, product development often happened in silos, one team would finish their work, then hand it off to the next. That approach is slow and creates unnecessary risk.

Integrated product development is different. It brings the right people together from the start—engineering, clinical, regulatory, marketing, and manufacturing all working side by side toward a shared goal.

At Suntra, we’ve seen how powerful this approach can be. It creates better collaboration, sharper decision-making, and ultimately, products that reach patients faster and make a bigger impact. We believe this way of working isn’t just the future, it’s the path forward for all meaningful medtech innovation.
