– Ascension, one of the nation’s largest health systems, has announced the creation of its new Clinical Innovation Institute (CII).
– The initiative is a dedicated unit focused on improving patient care and the clinician experience through the strategic use of technology and innovation. By bringing together a multidisciplinary team, the CII aims to vet and implement new technology solutions across Ascension’s network to tackle some of healthcare’s most pressing challenges.
A New Approach to Healthcare Innovation
The Clinical Innovation Institute solidifies Ascension’s commitment to building on existing technology efforts to drive better patient outcomes and support its workforce.
The CII will be directed by four Ascension leaders:
- Dr. Mitesh Patel, VP, Chief Clinical Transformation Officer
- Dr. Samit Desai, VP, Chief Medical Information Officer
- Dr. Fred Masoudi, VP, Chief Academic Officer
- Jon Taves, AVP, Clinical Innovation
Their collective expertise will guide the institute’s focus on clinical transformation, digital innovation, and academic research.
Dr. Thomas Aloia, Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer, highlighted this commitment by referencing Ascension’s core value of “Creativity.” He stated, “Innovation is how we create a better care experience for all—for our patients, caregivers, associates and the communities we serve.” The CII’s work is a direct result of this culture, which prioritizes safety and quality while using innovation as a catalyst for growth.
